Jan Meyer
Jan Meyer joined the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture, and Information Technology at The University of Queensland in July 2011 as a Professor of Education. He was previously a Professor of Education and the foundation Director of the Centre for Learning, Teaching, and Research in Higher Education at Durham University in the UK. He is the founding theoretician of the Threshold Concepts Framework – a framework that has had an international impact in providing a new lens to focus on critical aspects of variation in transformative learning experiences and accompanying ontological and epistemic repositioning in terms of disciplinary aspects of thinking, reasoning and explanation. The Framework also integrates his (student learning) modelling and metalearning interests and extends them into new research domains as reflected in his most recent publications. His research productivity is reflected in 52 journal papers, and 61 book chapters (and proceedings papers).
